Advocating/Lobbying for the NGO Sector​

The purpose of Yukon Nonprofit Advisory Council (YNAC) is to bring together leaders in nonprofit, business and government sector to use their diverse knowledge, skills and perspectives to help support the nonprofit sector; its needs, initiatives and progress throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond: YNAC term of Reference.

The Yukon NGO Hub Society is part of the Yukon Nonprofit Advisory Council (YNAC). We support the council working with the Yukon government to help, advocate, and lobby for the NGO sector.

Our current objective: With the support of 31 NGOs, we are requesting to the Yukon Government:
1- Cost of Living Adjustment Commitment
2- Work with the Non-Profit Sector
3- Social Recovery Plan Implementation

During the summer, we have met with the leader of the Yukon Party and the Yukon NDP.

Funding received for the NGO Sector since 2021:
1- Yukon NGO Hub Society: The society received funding to hire a staff and to rent an office space.The funding for the program is provided by the Yukon Government’s Economic Development in 2022. The amount of funding provided was $202,862. The program covers eligible expenses incurred between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2025.
2- Non-Profit Relief and Recovery program (Administrated by Volunteer Bénévoles Yukon): The program helped NGOs relief and recover from the pandemic. The funding for the program was provided by the Yukon Government’s Economic Development in 2022. The amount of funding provided was $250,000. The program covers eligible expenses incurred between February 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023.
